Tongkat Ali
Eurycoma longifolia
What the evidence shows
Traditional Southeast Asian remedy with genuinely promising human trial data — several studies show testosterone increases specifically in men who started with low-normal or low T, with less effect in men already in a healthy range. Quality varies enormously between commercial extracts.
How it's thought to work
May reduce SHBG (freeing more testosterone) and modestly stimulate luteinizing hormone; also shows anxiolytic effects that may indirectly support the HPG axis.
Typical Dosage
200–400mg/day of a standardized extract (look for a stated eurycomanone percentage).
Safety Notes
Generally well-tolerated at standard doses. Quality/purity varies widely by brand — this is the single biggest risk factor.
Want the full clinical breakdown?
Does tongkat ali really raise testosterone? Multiple RCTs and a meta-analysis confirm modest, real increases in stressed, aging, and hypogonadal men at 200-400mg/day of standardized extract.
