What the evidence shows

Most of the meaningful trial data on pycnogenol for ED comes from studies combining it with L-arginine, making it hard to isolate pycnogenol's independent contribution — the combination shows real benefit, the ingredient alone is less clearly established on its own.

How it's thought to work

Antioxidant proanthocyanidins proposed to support endothelial nitric oxide production, synergistic with arginine's substrate-supply mechanism.

Typical Dosage

40–120mg/day, often paired with 1.5–3g L-arginine per published protocols.

Safety Notes

Generally well-tolerated. Mild blood-thinning effect — same caution as other vascular-active supplements around anticoagulants.

Want the full clinical breakdown?

Pycnogenol stimulates NO synthase activity and improves endothelial function — with notable ED evidence when combined with L-arginine (80–92% erection normalization in small trials).
